# Hypothis FAQ

Source: https://hypothis.ai/faq

## Is Hypothis real customer research, or is the AI making it up?

The AI designs the instrument — the hypotheses, screeners, and questions — but every response comes from real people you recruit and send the study to. Hypothis never fabricates respondents or answers. That distinction is the whole point: an AI can sound confident about a market it has never talked to.

## How is a verdict calculated?

Each hypothesis (problem, willingness-to-pay, behavior, solution-fit, market) is scored against the responses it collected — confirmed, weakened, or inconclusive. An idea-level verdict rolls those up into one recommendation: Build it, Keep testing, Refine, or Weak demand. You can always see exactly which responses a verdict is built from.

## What if the verdict says my idea is weak?

Then it says so plainly. We don't soften a 'weak demand' read or bury it — the same craft goes into delivering a no as a yes. A cheap, early no is a win: it's months of building you get back.

## Do I need research experience to use this?

No. Hypothis is built for founders with no research background — it handles study design, screening, and Mom-Test-disciplined question writing so you don't have to know the method to benefit from it.

## What happens to the data my respondents give me?

It's yours. Responses are collected for your research rounds and used only to compute your verdicts. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail on storage and handling.

## What does it cost?

Hypothis is free during early access — see the Pricing page. We haven't set pricing yet because we'd rather earn it than guess it.

## Why is it called Hypothis?

Hypothis is named after the hypothesis — a testable claim that real evidence could prove wrong. That is how the product works: it turns your startup idea into testable hypotheses about the problem, willingness to pay, behavior, solution fit, and market, then scores each one against real customer responses.

## Can I use Hypothis for something other than a brand-new startup idea?

Yes. Anyone deciding whether to build, add, or pivot a product feature can frame it as a hypothesis and run a research round — the discovery framework doesn’t require a from-scratch company.
